Where Is Gender Equality In India ?

Written by Sahithi Divi

India is the world’s largest democracy and second largest populous country. With stinkingly diversified geography compassed with an ancient history, India is excelling rapidly in technology, skill building and various fields. But what is the place of Gender Equality in India ? What are the areas affected due to the deeply rooted Gender Inequality? How can it bleach into an outburst of social downfall ?

The Sustainable Development Goal 5 – Gender Equality to me, converts into equal opportunites and access to economic resources for every person regardless of gender or behavioral uniquness. In addition to the brutal practices fought against Gender like Female Genital Mutilation, Child marriage, Discrimination against men through child labour and many more, it is very challenging to gauge the impact of Gender Equality just with it’s definition, as it prevails in soo many forms on every level in almost all sectors. Let us explore some basics of picturing the futuristic red zones in Gender Bias…

Bottomline Workforce
  • Regardless of the social hierarchy, gender bias exists in Politics, Healthcare, Economic positions, Entertainment, Education, Sports, Aviation , Agriculture, Low income working forces and Homes.
  • The challenge comes in form of Right to Education, Employment, Descison making, Marital implications, Financial access, Socio- economic limitations, Professional bottomline choices and Gender based behavioral expectations.
  • Resulting in seperation of normalcy between different genders at young age that supresses my transgender friends to speak up, young girls to drop out for home needs or marriage and men to discontinue education for a daily wage.
  • While the problem is socially stubborn, the change has to start from Homes? Schools? Work place? Government? – to create awareness asking for a mindshift in unlearning the stereotypes that came along.
  • We must come together and believe strongly that Gender Equality accelerates the country’s economic growth. By providing communication channels, digital tools, reducing the financial stigma on men, maternity support and women empowerment indexes creating socially aware and healthier families.
  • Discrimination of any gender hampers the balance in performace at home, public or private sector – affecting the productivity that will benefit everyone in the end.
  • Gender Equality is far more than a fundamental right. The only sustainable way to achieve it is to be aware, create awareness, empower others and don’t stop!

Above is an introduction for the key role indicators and challenges faced by Gender Equality that are affecting us like an epidemic. Let us build on this idea – to live the dream of a world free from Gender Inequality.

Which Sustainable Goal Do You Resonate With ?

Written by Sahithi Divi

We are habituated to plan everything in our life. Why not organise the Impact Creation ?

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are formed by the United Nations like a universal  light house for social change, these are milestones that are curated to be known as the global goals to refer the cause and  direction to initiate, execute and measure the impact-change. It is the right time to learn about theses global milestones and align  your area of interest keeping these 17 burning areas, that act like the periodic pledge of social impact. Along with digital evolution, riddles of cross platform operations have created the need for a common flag of a better world to classify its impact for the people. Every person has a different purpose and if that is rightly channelized with a professional aspiration that is when we can create not only a quantitative but also a qualitative social impact in the world.

Life Goals – By A Dog

Written by Sahithi Divi

Everybody who owns a dog is actually owned by the dog itself. Dogs are selfless show masters who enslave humans to their unique loving capabilities. Dogs are the movie I can play in real life dreamfully everyday. They manifest the ambience using ‘ Wag and Woof ‘ spirit. Although it is extremely difficult to write just a handful of words, yet I will spin across my life’s most precious times to pull out some dots that froze in time but remained as life lessons.

Woofing lessons coming up –

  • ‘ WELCOMES ‘ — Dogs really know how to make one’s day start, like a life full of treats. Greetings depend on the mood, situation and the amount of time missed. Wag and Woof means – Smile and Hugs.
  • ‘ LOVE IN ALL SIZES ‘ — They come with customised colors, sizes and places but they all love like the world is ending tomorrow. Thier existence teaches that everyone has their own way of contributing to your journey, take it all in.
  • ‘ LIVE IN THE MOMENT’ — Dogs hold on to each moment witholding a nature of relishing every second of their time ie; with their friends, humans, meal, playtime …. not only being lazy wholeheartedly but they also master the art of getting the sleep they deserve.
  • ‘ RECIEVING IS AN ART ‘ — Dogs exhibit the most adorable act of ‘ giving us the joy of giving’ by showing appreciation stacked with their charm through recieving and being patient.
  • ‘LEAD LIKE A DOG ‘ — Dogs know the game of peace and war. They settle on hungry offerings with a weak nerve and watering mouth, at the same time, they also fight for the duties like a soldier sniffing away the opposite feelings.
  • ‘ NEVER BE ALONE ‘ — Whenever it is possible, give your time to ones that need it. It changes the course of thinking for them. Feeling wanted is a beautiful gift you can give someone.
  • ‘ PET THE SUSTAINABLE WAY ‘ — Just like humans, there are millions of dogs up for adoption, waiting with a remarkable story to tell and a happy home to spread unquestionable love. We need this attitude shift to upscale the quality of life for dogs. Organisations like Blue Cross have active adoption frameworks being executed in place.

Men – In The War Of Gender Polarization

Written By Sahithi Divi

Thoughts revisited ( pic : pier 39, San Fransisco )

In these times of extremism, are men able to leverage from the war of gender inequality? Men are being socially subjected to focul standards that forces an embarking imbalance in their self discovery. If a woman is born with pre made choices for her , a man is born with precisely oriented responsibilities for him to deliver. There are ofcourse two sides of gender inequality, but being a firm believer of cross functional ( Men and Women supporting each other ) compatibility benefits, I start off to brainstorm my inferences about the social stigma that is encountered by ‘Men’ in the name of Gender Polarization.

Myths that can affect men

  • Don’t cry like a girl ‘ – Such a mean phrase, that can reduce a person to subjective confusion, not only about his external behaviour but also damages the formation of an internal co existent mind set.
  • Man up – Really ? Does it refer to Strength? Bravery? Drive of Sex? or Built? What we repeatedly say, becomes what we believe, which in turn becomes who we are… Let us promote a world free of ‘ Manning up’ for Men.
  • Homemaker – The greatest things we say about a homemaker ; will we still say all the greatest things if the homemaker is a Man ?
  • Identity Crisis – ‘ Man – Money – Measure ‘ is a deeply engraved carving over a man’s life which means – measure the man with money. Let us create an emotionally insured world for men.
  • Emotional competency – Although empathy can be wonderfully exhibited by men yet they are more vulnerable to expression and often hold back from showing a weakness without restraint.
  • Perfection – Expectation of perfection parasites over men with compulsory deliverables, leaving no choice but to be left wanting to be more better.
  • Men Are From Mars Women Are From Venus – We are all united by the means of humanity, nature and resources. Diversity gives differential learning whereas it does not mean that men and women are opposites by nature.

An old man once said to me , ” It is easier to raise strong children than it is to repair broken men “. ( St. Anthony’s Foundation ) Think about it…

Are We Emotionally Intelligent?

Written by Sahithi Divi

Emotional Intelligence

Amid the constant schedule pre designed around us everyday, do we realise the purpose of that constant shedule ? All the success related powers can be achieved only after crossing the emotional barriers. Path leading to ambition yields best if balanced with being aware of people’s state around you. Emotional Intelligence comes to use in almost every occurence from personal to professional level. Interestingly , the learnings come mostly from micro sources.

I identified some tools to equip my self with greater compassion towards giving more and being able to receive better from life. In my opinion they apply to everyone ; school kids ? entrepreneurs ? for that matter everybody …

  • Empathy: Being non judgemental towards people, to dissolve various perspectives and stage a life filled with real performances of sharing, learning and growing. Empathy is a non opinionated understanding and a powerful suport system.
  • Listen : There is a lot of life hidden in the big talks and sometimes that includes listening, which is an art. To listen without changing the course of narration and avoiding the reflexive iterruptions might give you better views.
  • Purpose : Try not to measure anything in materialistic ways but if at all you do, then measure the purpose of value creation that is generated in exchange to your time and effort.
  • People : Everyone in your life tree will leave a little of them in you. While you go through the process, try to make the most with every person you meet to give them good memories after crossing paths. Time is less enough to reflect on things that cannot matter.
  • Sustainable : Lean towards minimalism, consuming responsibly, recycling and spreading ecological awareness. Even nature has emotional needs from us.
  • Give : This is a personal choice yet my expirience with giving has always been overwhelming in terms of inner growth and soul expansion. Giving releases the hunger for more and provides the comfort of containment.
  • Forgive : Free your inner peace to evoke and let go of what is not in your control . Forgive as much as possible to make place for acceptance.

We encounter family, friends, beneficiaries, customers, collegues etc. in soo many unexpected ways. Embrace intelligence with emotions for a wonderful ride.

So , are we emotionally intelligent ?…

Friendship Day Reminds Me Of My Friend From The Basque Country

Written by Sahithi Divi

Our First Meet In SriLanka

My husband and I were returning from Australia to India with a layover in Sri Lanka for a day . That’s when we decided to explore the nearby places and ended up in a cozy traveler’s hostel at Galle Fort, Sri Lanka to unwind for an hour. When I reached out to get a view of the anciently tucked luxurious streets from our balcony, saw this guy with a Lonely Planet book and a fifteen year old translator greeting a warm-filled happy ‘ Hello My Fraiendd’ ! After all when you are looking for an experience, never miss taking forward to have that exciting conversation just because you don’t know the language. ( the three of us had a very good time for that one hour before we left)

Basque Country

His name is Oier Areitio from Eibar town in the Basque Countryof Spain“.

Few months later in Hyderabad…

Homecoming
Time For Homecooked Indian Meal
  • Homecoming – Oier actually came back to see us in India before leaving to Spain. That one day taught me a lot about life when I learnt that he decided to spend his limited time and resources to meet us and not touring few more places instead. He showed a gesture that exhales soo much Value.
  • Aura – He is a farmer in The Basque country, empath yet an individual non perfectionist who believes in sudden plans, instant hugs, spreading humor and endless sarcasm.
  • Celebrating differences – He embraced how different things were, never compared or complaint. While he indulged on ‘India food feast’ he also cooked his local dishes for us. He serenely enjoyed the elements that made him uncomfortable because he could see through people.
  • Musical Nostalgia – While we held to the collections from i tunes, Spotify etc. During his stay with us we found unbelievable sources/collection from the local radio stations back in The Basque country. Like he came with gift boxes full of music we love but haven’t heard before.
  • Co existence – Oier not only connected with us two but also owned everyone we know here. He made memories with everything that is connected to us that he experienced during his stay. He connects on a human level for easily becoming a part of where he is.
  • The Game Of Thrones – When he showed us the videos of his country, we realized it is the same location where Danerys lands on the Dragonstone. And then he tells us about the many other locations we see in the GOT t.v show and awe about are just less than a thirty min drive for him. Theplace we grow up reflects in our approach towards life.
  • Blissful Goodbye -His goodbye remained, igniting a dream for us to go there in search of him ; so that he can play his character in our life’s movie to once again to broaden the horizons and grow.

What Reminds me of ‘The Waterfall Cafe’ ?

Written by Sahithi Divi

Travel is my happiness therapy that I always look forward to almost everyday of my life if I had a chance. Short, long or just a day day trip doesn’t matter but what we see and whom we meet becomes a deep touchdown element in us. Leaving certain places does not feel like a goodbye sometimes.
These beautiful places with beautiful people with beautiful hearts and their stories are embedding impactful take away tales. Here is one of mine for you !In the state of Himachal Pradesh, from Kasol we took a mountain motorcycle to explore The Great Himalayas without a plan for that day. That’s when on the way towards the direction of Tosh village we found a tiny  paradise  with a personal waterfall gifted by nature. It was called ‘The waterfall Cafe ‘.

What reminds me of this place again and again ?

Seating At The Waterfall Cafe

The amazing woman who runs that cafe, tying her one year old to the waist and sprinting from from one to an other rock.
The ideal and most dramatic waterfall that enlarges the simple hut into an exotic affair.
The time taking, customised and freshly cooked meal in her sustainable yet challenging kitchen according to the availability of resources for that day.
Serenity with a complex mix of solitude of the mighty snowcapped mountains and extravagantly decorated valleys as a view!
Stories we heard about the surrounding villages, off beat trekking trails, exotic local life, real challenges they have to deal with, their definition of happiness and the experience of meeting a person who is not even touched by the first ray of how urban lives process.
– I cannot wait to mention the soul soothing music by the spluttering water from the waterfall echoing in the majestic affinity.
– A wooden bridge to leap for a further views and changing colours.
