The Difficulty Of Being Oneself

Written By Sahithi Divi

In the dire need of circumstances, when comes the time to act for yourself , what stops you ? What are the thoughts that hold you back from fighting back with the inner voice which knows how the spark will admit to fire ?

We often think about what is not there. It is time to revise the strengths and use them for good. This process obviously comes inclusive of the withered flashes of flying time.

Read the below lines to find out reasons behind the difficulty of being oneself ….

  • Answerability is certain , avoid it.
  • Individuality is a human right that can be enjoyed through a learning process.
  • Recognition cannot be voluntary.
  • Chances if not given can be taken.
  • Protection is a habit born out of being protected.
  • Expectation can create doubts.
  • Surprises are the way of life independent of their nature.

The difficulty of being oneself is not a condition, infact it is just the beginning of an other chapter.

Beautiful Journey Of The Mountain Couple

Written by Sahithi Divi

She is my best friend from the senior school, her name is Saabnam . He is Prateek her best friend for ten years and counting… Met each other while pursuing their professional education in Delhi University. Their friendship turned into marriage and they found themselves in the village of Kalga in midst of Himalayas, Himachal Pradesh where they also grew bigger as they became parents of Gabbar, Bailey and Anami.

Mountains and the wilderness captured their dreams for ultimatley giving away the city life to their paradise , Jingle Jungle Homestay situated in Kalga. Prateek and Saabnam are one of the 60 dwelling homes inside the kalga village.

I was going to reunite with her in ten years. Everything has changed a lot in life since the time I met her last time. After the long 2 hour flight, 12 hour bus travel, 2 hour cab ride and then a 25 min uphill trek is when I finally met her ! it was intense and such pure bliss. All I can say about our reunion is that , I forgot everything else to the celebration I walked into, it felt like coming back to where I am suppose to be atleast once, finally !

Now about Jingle Jungle Homestay – in short

  • It is a home that comes with love of the 5 pack.
  • Surrounded by majestic peaks of Himalayas overlooking the valley coated with snow on the peaks and rushing rivers on the steep down views. Sky that almost contemplates every hour playing around with pristine colors held with gigantic mountain backdrops.
  • A plastic free village dominated by the apple orchards on every possible corner with scarcely hustled wodden homes decorated with bon fires.
  • Organic and sustainable kitchen where recipies can be requsted as per the availabilty of that day and enjoy the meal at tandoor and handpainted art on the walls.
  • Handwoven, recycled, local and sustainable home needs.

Equality often translates to fulfillment of souls. It generates happiness, the most important note of life’s music. We often wish for the beauty without investing into freedom and liberation. But Cheers to you both for breaking the paradigm of the man made reality.

Life Of Women Is Like a River

Comparing a women’s life to that of a river ..

Poetry Written By Sahithi Divi –

What is the meaning of your birth ?

The action plan for freedom ?

Existence is a gentle reminder ,

That you are a  nature’s blissful seed.

Flowing through the rocks of contentment ,

Expelling your art to adverse changes ,

When the time comes, you always made it .

Taking stand of transforming seasons ,

You fiercely move towards horizons .

Hard to introspect who has set the direction ,

However your life has channelised ,

Life still asks you for a share, isn’t it?

Forcing her years towards a destination,

Today becomes irrelevant for her.

And also irreversible !

Unconscious delivery of love,

Motivated by expensive patriarchy,

You will be told to match the goals ….

After all the exhaustion,

When you fall into the sea ….

Introspection comes to life ,

That soo many reviewed your growth ,

The Micro opiniated directions ,

Have all lead you to unfold ,

What you haven’t owned ,

About your life….

Then the question arises again ,

What is the meaning of your birth ?

Can You Answer To This Young Boy’s Letter ?

In Feb 2017, I set out on a trip to Sri Lanka to find my answers. After an intense one year of  Masters in Social Entrepreneurship, it was emotionally overwhelming for me to picture my purpose, burning with a restless soul I wanted to find my place in the world. To explore what my heart connects with? way of giving back? the cause that I can take responsibility of and make it the reason for my existence.

UNDP – AIESEC facilitated voluntouring, training, travelling and hopping around Sri Lanka to schools, churches and village centres. I chose sustainable development goal 5 to teach the locals and create awareness about gender bias related affects ; if possible convince them to break out of the social stigma they are told to live with.  It’s true, that by giving back to the community, things begin to settle down for an other start of what I call my independent introduction to social action !

The boy wrote,” If a girl is in trouble and if I am the only boy trying to help her everyone will think in a different way and society makes up stories, what do you have to do ?”

Sri Lanka is a long long story for a single shot. Hence, I breakdown down my moments of Impact and share about my uniquely special expiriences.  Here is one such story from Sri Lanka of a boy who wrote a letter to me after I gave the session on Gender Equality at school, for the 6 th grade. He was shy to speak out. Yes, even strong boys can be shy to speak up. I call him strong because of what he wrote in the letter. Below attached is the image of the letter from the boy.

What did you feel after reading his letter ? That it is a common teenage ritual which I am exageratting? Instead, lets look at the other side of the most common.

  • The young boy took the initiative to write down his problem. He cares, thus, he is strong.
  • He is feeling scared of being supportive to his female friend.
  • At such a young age he is worried about society making up stories. Who is the society? What are we ignoring while providing education? Peer pressure is unavoidable, but societal pressure for a kid ?
  • He is thinking about his friend’s trouble, dealing with his reputation, confused about right and wrong, holding back to speak up because he knows he might be isolated further and still able to balance himself.
  • He did not stop helping his friend. He is perseverant and is ready to think about a sustainable solution.
  • I answered him to do the right thing confidently and share with trusted elders about the situation in detail without being scared like how he came up to me.

Society means nobody if we don’t account ourselves into it. Children are continuously learning from surroundings. His letter showed me how it feels to reach your first milestone in life. But there are millions of children confused in the context of contaminating gender inequality.

Hope his letter gives you something valueble too that inspires you to act.

Life Goals – By A Dog

Written by Sahithi Divi

Everybody who owns a dog is actually owned by the dog itself. Dogs are selfless show masters who enslave humans to their unique loving capabilities. Dogs are the movie I can play in real life dreamfully everyday. They manifest the ambience using ‘ Wag and Woof ‘ spirit. Although it is extremely difficult to write just a handful of words, yet I will spin across my life’s most precious times to pull out some dots that froze in time but remained as life lessons.

Woofing lessons coming up –

  • ‘ WELCOMES ‘ — Dogs really know how to make one’s day start, like a life full of treats. Greetings depend on the mood, situation and the amount of time missed. Wag and Woof means – Smile and Hugs.
  • ‘ LOVE IN ALL SIZES ‘ — They come with customised colors, sizes and places but they all love like the world is ending tomorrow. Thier existence teaches that everyone has their own way of contributing to your journey, take it all in.
  • ‘ LIVE IN THE MOMENT’ — Dogs hold on to each moment witholding a nature of relishing every second of their time ie; with their friends, humans, meal, playtime …. not only being lazy wholeheartedly but they also master the art of getting the sleep they deserve.
  • ‘ RECIEVING IS AN ART ‘ — Dogs exhibit the most adorable act of ‘ giving us the joy of giving’ by showing appreciation stacked with their charm through recieving and being patient.
  • ‘LEAD LIKE A DOG ‘ — Dogs know the game of peace and war. They settle on hungry offerings with a weak nerve and watering mouth, at the same time, they also fight for the duties like a soldier sniffing away the opposite feelings.
  • ‘ NEVER BE ALONE ‘ — Whenever it is possible, give your time to ones that need it. It changes the course of thinking for them. Feeling wanted is a beautiful gift you can give someone.
  • ‘ PET THE SUSTAINABLE WAY ‘ — Just like humans, there are millions of dogs up for adoption, waiting with a remarkable story to tell and a happy home to spread unquestionable love. We need this attitude shift to upscale the quality of life for dogs. Organisations like Blue Cross have active adoption frameworks being executed in place.
