CHILDHOOD

A Poem By Sahithi Divi ( image: an art installation at Burning Man)

Have you gone back to  childhood?

To the days of dodging ideas ,

Far from today’s disgrace,

Pages full of glowing stories ,

To moral rhymes about twinkling stars,

When it was easier to say , “I miss you”

Years of memories come alive ,

Taking a walk with albums from the time ,

To see the same Friends today ,

Meet for living the times,  that never come,

Regrets seem like a lesson ,

Pain can withstand your past ,

Everything may not feel right ,

Glad you got the roughest ride ,

Nothing fades with time ,

It only heals and passes on,

Like solitude came a long way,

Changing forms of life stammer,

The time of war for limited snacks ,

Coding plans for creepy sneak outs ,

Those times of bringing back dust, home,

Remember trading your sport cards?

Posters that made you a leader,

Imagination you left to novel comics ,

The child in you is far no gone,

Go back to your childhood ,

Tell them all , you meant a lot.
