Inequality In Delusion Of Democracy

Written By Sahithi Divi

Democracy is a delusive state of mind. Hard to appreciate and difficult to live without. While we are finding a million ways to manage and platform our opinions, fundamental rights are in danger within the power of democracy. Objective norms created by individuals are now followed as summary of regulations which are in turn opposed by the rest.

In India, where diversity is the main characteristic of our country, diversification cannot be embraced. We are living divided lives without considering the affect of our thoughts and actions on our land.

Political system is enabling democratic practice of bringing leaders to policy making. While policies are attempting to vitalize India from the last seven decades, healthcare and education system are scarce of voices to reflect the deficient needs and increasing demand of compulsory reforms which are now on the verge of building blocks for dangerous after-affects.

Accountability is the only possible solution for de-masking the delusions paralysed by democracy. Each of us are facing the undermining remains due to the discussions initiated by insufficient ability to monetise the socio- economic conditions.

Democracy is suppose to bring betterment not division ! Time is comprehensive , fading into darker myths. Manipulated history with a glimpse of changing times that are further frightening the future security of Equality in association with education , healthcare , political reform, gender bias and distribution of sophisticated power.

Identity Crisis For Women . Why ?

Written By Sahithi divi

Where does the challenge begin for women ? Why is their identity at stake ?

Women in especially developing countries and in this case India, seem to battle with identity crisis due to the lack of equal resources and cultural speedbreakers controlling her capacity to achieve or dream. Identity crisis begins with the most generic habit of giving her feminine and household rolemodels only as an option, to pick from categories to explore.

At the same time we color the girl’s life with so many identification pointers reminding her the limitations of her being a girl. Her abilities are limitless but how much can she unfold is often not for her to decide. How can a person be confused about uncertain expectations of others ?

Fulfillment of purpose and happiness inside the soul can exist when all the factors in your life are decided by you yourself. Gender roles are tearing up almost every women to defend herself against the feminine responsibilities written off by everyone else for the women in most of the cases to forgo her real identity to fulfill the voids of a shared promise all by herself.

A women has no choice but to contribute hertime and preferences to soo many people trying to create a strong influence for her well being. Every person has a vast layout of their life, a women’s layout is created by a team of family members and influencial society examples. All she can do is decorate the provided layout with her choice of theme.

This kind of a situation occurs because she is not designed to think like a bread winner instead she is told to be a meal maker and at the same time homemaking is considered compulsion not luxury.

Identity is more than a person’s right where as we are creating layers of identities with divided classes of norms and expectations.

Focusing on one’s own prosperity is much more eventful than thinking actively for an other adult especially influencing them to such an extent that gender actually becomes a considerable point of accepting inequality .

IDENTITY CRISIS IS NOT TRUE IF YOU DON”T BELIEVE

Gender Is A Home Affairs Matter

Written By Sahithi Divi

I strongly believe that gender equality is born and begins at home…….

Gender is a Home Affair

Gender Equality closely opens down to how your home and surroundings have shaped you. But now it is about how you shape it for the future generations to beleive what gender equality is ? Gender Equality is not about teaching new ways yet more about unlearning unconscious habits about showcasing inequality in any form backed by gender as the reason.

Home is the place which lands as the horizon for anyody to form a crazy imagination about their life. How many can uphold living multiple lives ? Gender equality will be true if each home has an advocate to remind irreversible benefits of bringing a mindshift of equality independent of gender as we will be able to enjoy the combined affect of identically allocated, consciously taken roles.

No matter whether you are living with a partner , you still run a home for your basic survival. Suddenly one day you get married and you forget to fulfill your own life skills . Some life skills are literally grounded as rules to be fulfilled naturally by women in most of the developing and under developed economies.

Education and awareness can definitely benefit us in some way and why not that begin with working on converting each of our homes into experiment centres to find out the ways to pluck out the gender inequality that shelters within us. Inequal exposure to resources, domestic voilence , patriarchy are the very few embedded characteristics that we can restructure into something useful. Homes have the ability to create unstoppable leaders but homes can also hide away the most mesmorising performances from coming to life. Every home can navigate it’s people towards who they want to be rather than who they must be.

We must stop asking a person what was your dream ? and start asking what is your dream ? Let your home nuture the dreams of all equally. Gender is after all a construct.

United Nation Population Fund , 140 million girls will become child brides by 2020 in india

Giving birth is a choice, being born is not. Once if a baby comes onto this planet, then it our individual responsibility to strengthen the social complexity for a girl surrounding her. A girl even without a right to vote can she be ready for forced sex and child bearing ? Every girl has been restricted from unlocking her place in the world saying ” The Society” will not accpet. Each of you reading this compiles of the society but you again draw boundaries for a girl saying some other set of families might not agree to your perception of living life.

Marriage is a very transformative phase of a person’s life. Although after the marriage takes place the complexity can occur from both the sides. Yet the age, person, child birth , continuation of education, pursuance of a career, personal choices are navigated by the family just for a ‘women’ mostly.

Isn’t it ?

When must a women get married and to whom ?

The answer is –

IT IS A WOMEN’S RIGHT TO CHOOSE WHEN SHE WANTS TO GET MARRIED AND TO WHOM ! ALSO ILLEGAL TO PERFORM A CHILD MARRIAGE FOR A GIRL BELOW THE AGE OF 18 AND BOY BELOW 21 .

But as per the UNICEF report even today in India 27 % of the girls are married before the age of 18 , that is 1 out of 3 girls. India also has the highest number of child brides in the world which accounts to 15,509,000 girls.

National Geographic website – image source

Socio economic conditions being the major reason for the early marriage . Whom to marry is still decided by the
the parent / guardian / family, for which we do not have verified data. Whom a girl marries is the most important factor because personal accomplishment in such a socially complex environment is hard. There is a constant fight for self empowerment leading to the world never expiriencing her full potential. This is a serious loss to the country.

This concern arises because only 25 % of the graduate women are in the work force today.

The government is working up to provide various incentives / schemes to improvise the overall conditions for the vulnerable women. But I strongly commend that most of the human rights issues have to be addressed more from a personal level to attain the maximum impact. Cross polinating the education about women rights and creating awareness can be done by you.

In cities for example, your house help, watchman, driver, gardner etc. are the people facing the vulnerability. Some parents are adement due to lack of education, some are afraid about the security of their girl child, some are unable to afford the cost and most of them are deeply affected by the conclusions given by the so called community or society around them.

Give your voice and counsel as many people around you about the mental and health benefits for not only the girl but also which will reflect on the overall social health of the family. Educate and encourage girls to be able to speak about their preference of choice or make a choice about who they must marry.

Daughters Are The Human Capital Of India ?

Written By Sahithi Divi

Women consists of 48 % of population in India

India is still expecting it’s daughters to silence their voices to the fury of dominance. Every time a girl is quiet, she is hiding enormous amount of power that is a wasted human capital that could have reflected towards a stronger foundation including the opinions and point of views of it’s 48 % of unheard screams. The policy making and leadership must not have been dictated under the reign of unequally divided governments !

Indian women alone make 7.5 % of the whole World’s population ! World’s second largest growing economy is unable to cope up to the equality standards that must be provided or approved for a women. Technology is able to reach the corners yet unable to solve the deeply rooted problems arising from the harsh social conditions of life.

Impact measurement is a very important and ignored factor. The basic piece of awareness that we all must have is about the fundamental rights of a women. Then we can measure how many of us are using the fundamental rights for their personal benefit and country’s social and economic benefit.

Is the availability of increasing techonolgy decreasing the social intelligence of personal liberation ?

Every place has an objective cause of certain social problems pertaining over there. The solutions must be integrated after understanding each problem differently. Generalising the solutions in such a diverse and multidimensionally populated society will not solve but infact create problems like urbanization which might sediment the turn out of real empowerment to very generic.

Our acceptance to change is the foremost science behind the flashing success of women empowerment. Reflecting learnings from one time to the present to create a life which suits the common interest of any family cannot transpire above the rapidly increasing need for us to act socially. EACH OF US !

Finance Vs Women In Developing Nations

Written by Sahithi Divi

Financial management is a life skill. For most of the women, their spending is determined by the male counterparts or at least influenced on their spending behaviours. Absence of financial responsibility at young age leads to unsure horizons while taking major life decisions in personal or professional life.

How far is a young girl considered equal to her male counterpart in terms of building financial management as a foundational skill ?

Society plays a large role in shifting the naturally formed equality towards gender biased classification

What could be the reasons ?

Who plays the major game for women ?
  • Family and society looks at her as a future care provider. Women are given boundaries to imagine their spending.
  • 80% of the consumer spending decisions are made by women still her spending dominantly inclines towards common benefits not personal benefits.
  • Identity crisis is induced on unpredictable levels, about social etiquette and appearance classification which  destroys the equality factor in childhood.
  • Reason for lesser women entrepreneurs is the lack of financial freedom of collateral, loans accessibility, capital investment in addition to the emotional responsibility of family members.
  • Migration for work is primarily lead by the male member, this factor begins affecting while making attempts to establish strong career for a women.
  • Dependability of spending details are entrusted on men compared to women who are naturally answerable to their spending as a luxury. Won’t this articulating confusion grow up into a less confident women who needs to rework on self empowerment?
Consumer spending power which is said to be in the hands of women may not reflect on her professional growth in any way.

Due to factors like no compulsive paternal leave, children are more emotionally attached with the mother. This leads to her taking first impact of the child behaviour and needs ; leading to changes, that take place in interest to more than just herself.

Financial freedom can be achieved by women but when it is unable to function for her individual goals, that’s when we must realise somewhere that less women in leadership roles is a long term affect of how we see motherhood at homes.

Society unknowingly distributes gender roles while growing up. I am sure each one of you reading this will reflect over the gender roles imposed on you objectively. Let us know what you feel ….
